The Contract Group has been successfully delivering quality building projects throughout New Zealand since 1993.
High Standards
To achieve the high standards Contract Group pride themselves on, it is essential we employ skilled tradesmen covering a broad range of specialist skills. Our team is capable of delivering all aspects of the build process from heavy duty commercial work down to fine interior finishing work.


Contract Group (Contract Holdings Ltd) is also a member of the Registered Master Builders and the New Zealand Retail Interiors Associations.
Large Resource Pool
The Contract Group employs over 50 carpenters, and although each of the four main divisions (commercial, residential, interiors and maintenance) require separate specialist skills, most of our tradesman are multi-skilled enabling them to change roles to meet the changing workload and demands of the market.
A strong relationship with our network of sub-contractors and suppliers ensures that Contract Group is able to respond quickly by placing resources where they are needed most to meet programmed deadlines and keep construction on schedule.
Dedicated Management Team
Each project is allocated a dedicated management team to ensure the client has direct access to information as it relates to the agreed construction programme. This gives the client piece of mind and allows them to maintain control over decisions via open lines of communication through one individual. This guarantees consistency and enhances the overall relationship.
The client’s main point of contact is generally via the appointed Construction Manager, who has overall responsibility for the project. The Site Foreman is responsible for the day to day running of the project and reports to the Construction Manager.
Large projects are also assigned a Project Manager, whose primary focus is to manage the resources allocated to the project to make sure that the build is completed on time and within budget. On smaller projects this role is fulfilled by the Construction Manager.
Key staff are available 24-hours a day via mobile phone.
Quality Control
Contract Group employs five dedicated Quantity Surveyors who are responsible for pricing and administering the Company’s building projects to ensure that they are completed within budget. Quality assessments are undertaken on a regular basis by the on-site Foreman and Construction Manager to warrant the standard of finish and reduce the necessity for re-work.

Staff welfare is of paramount importance to Contract Group; a strong emphasis is placed on continual training to improve skills, new technology is provided to ensure staff are in the best position to deliver great results while an approved Health and Safety Programmes is put into practice.
Finger On The Pulse
Keeping track of deadlines, expenses and resources is vital to delivering a project on time and within budget. To ensure that nothing slips through the cracks, Contract Group utilise Microsoft Project to programme deadlines, coupled with our accounting package and Build Soft – for estimating and project cost control.
These programmes are reviewed at regular intervals and are updated as necessary to make certain all projects remain on-track and clients are advised of any budgetary changes.
Project and Construction Managers are supported by an experienced Office Management team.

Contract Group was founded by Peter Jamieson; an Associate Member of the New Zealand Institute of Quantity Surveyors and Peter van Eekelen; former President of the Canterbury Registered Master Builders Association. Peter was also a member of the Federations Board of Directors.
Members of Contract Group team currently hold positions within professional industry bodies.
The company has won a number of accolades for Excellence In Construction at the annual Registered Master Builders Awards. Successful categories include commercial and residential construction plus office and shop fit-outs.
Health And Safety
A comprehensive Health and Safety Programme is implemented across the entire company. It satisfies the requirements of the Health and Safety in Employment Act and the Occupational Safety and Health Services (OSH) best practice guidelines. Our Health and Safety Programme also complies with ACC - Workplace Safety Management Practices (WSMP) secondary level rating.
Company Growth
Contract Holdings Ltd was formed in 1993 by Peter Jamieson and Peter van Eekelen, with its two primary divisions; Contract Construction and Contract Interiors. Since then the Company's portfolio has grown in response to market demands.
Contract Maintenance was established as a separate division in 2007. Today these companies operate side-by-side and for ease they are referred to here as Contract Group.
