Health
and safety

Good employers take the safety of the people who work for them seriously.

Health and safety is an essential part of running a business and all people who exercise significant influence over the management of the business have responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act 2015 and its amendments.

Contract Construction is firmly committed to a policy enabling all work activities to be carried out safely.  All practicable steps are taken for the health, safety and welfare of employees, contractors, visitors and the public.  We coordinate and consult with our employees, customers and visitors to assist in realising our health and safety objective to create a safe working environment for all.

We have robust Occupational Health and Safety Policies and Procedures that are implemented throughout the company and on all of our construction sites.  We compile a dedicated Site Specific Safety Plan (SSSP) for each project for approval by our clients.  Having a comprehensive health and safety plan – and putting it into practice every day – ensures we keep our team and our clients safe.

Our comprehensive Health and Safety Programme meets the requirements of current Health and Safety legislation and best practice guidelines.  Our Programme complies with ACC – Workplace Safety Management Practices (WSMP) secondary level rating, and we are Sitewise accredited. We have a full time Health and Safety Manager on staff who is responsible for managing our day to day health and safety requirements.  We are a member of Site Safe New Zealand and signed foundation member of the Canterbury Rebuild Safety Charter.
