High end architectural
Our clients’ house was badly damaged in the February earthquake and needed to be rebuilt. Their previous association with us, including a recent 3 level commercial building, meant that we were the obvious choice as their builder.
We helped to negotiate a fair cash settlement with the insurer; this included the demolition of the old house and a significant contribution towards the new house construction.
The new house is in a modern style to suit its prominent position in the city and to make maximum use of the site. It is a full three storeys with views over a nearby river and park.
External cladding consists of cedar boarding and granite panels, intersected with Coloursteel panels and flashings. Verandas and paved outdoor areas allow the clients maximum room for entertaining. The majority of the roof is a torch on membrane, but to the rear is a pitched tray profile with Velux skylights that let light into the living areas. A large canopy shelters the bespoke metal clad entry door and full height sidelights.
Internally the house is minimalistic style with high ceilings to catch the light, clean lines, tiled wet areas, high quality fittings and a spacious kitchen & dining area. Floors are a combination of stone, tiles, and oak timber. The upper floors are accessed by both a timber stair and a lift.
Ground and first floors are heated by hydronic in-floor pipes, and the upper level is served by heat pumps.
The contract was set up to allow the clients the maximum choice in selection of fittings and finishes. Our clients are thrilled with their new home and we have enjoyed building it for them.
