Our clients’ house was badly damaged in the February earthquake and needed to be rebuilt. Their previous association with us, including a recent 3 level commercial building, meant that we were the obvious choice as their builder.

We helped to negotiate a fair cash settlement to cover the demolition of the old house and a significant contribution towards construction of the new house. The settlement included Consultant and consent fees, and a clause to allow review in case of unforeseen land issues.

The new house is in a modern style to suit its prominent position in the city and to make maximum use of the site. It is a full three storeys with views over a nearby river and park.

External cladding is cedar boarding and granite panels. Verandas and outdoor areas allow the clients maximum room for entertaining.
Internally the house is minimalistic style with high ceilings to catch the light, clean lines, tiled wet areas, high quality fittings, oak timber floors and a spacious kitchen & dining area. The clients have had a high input into the bathroom areas, and the results are amazing.

The contract was set up to allow the clients the maximum choice in selection of fittings, with final figures adjusted against previously discussed budgets.

The property would have been affected by new town planning rules particularly in relation to the fencing. We managed the construction so that we avoided any conflict with the new rules, and so were able to maintain the privacy that the clients had previously enjoyed.

Our clients are thrilled with their new home and we have enjoyed building it for them.
