Aikmans Bar was a NZ Retail Design Awards 2008 Category Winner and also won Gold in the Masterbuilders Awards 2008, Commercial Project category.  The architect was Identity Group and the project involved the full refurbishment of an existing bar. 

The project involved much more than your standard fit-out project, highlighting the benefits of engaging a building company with both interior fit-out and commercial expertise.

Demolition of existing bar was required including some external walls, the floor and the exterior courtyard area.  A new concrete floor slab was poured throughout with new exterior walls including structural steel framing to support existing roof structure.  

The interior fitout consisted of a new raised timber floor, linings, floor coverings, bar joinery and fittings, restrooms and kitchen.  Finishing materials included American White Oak flooring, vinyl and tiles with paint and wallpaper to walls.  The exterior cladding was Rockcote plaster over hardies, and American Oak.  The new courtyard included coloured concrete, outdoor fire, louvers, lighting, electric heaters and a sound system.
