Manning Intermediate School Hall & Administration Block - 2011

Hoon Hay Road

Manning IntermediateManning IntermediateDesigned by Stufkens + Chambers Architects, the brief was to design a new school hall, foyer and administration block.  The main entrance provides a dramatic welcome and acts as the axis of the school.   The main hall is articulated by alternative wall panels to reflect the schools prevailing artistic side and also optimise interior acoustic performance.  Exterior cladding is a combination of Titanboard and metal cladding.

The team at Contract Construction worked with the architect to seamlessly incorporate design changes and the school requirements as the project progressed.   The final stages of construction were complicated by the February earthquake, however the team worked tirelessly to complete the works and hand over a quality finished product.

Guardian Trust Office - 2006

328 Durham Street, Christchurch City Centre

Copper CladdingConstruction of this stunning building began in July 2005 and was completed in June 2006.  Designed by Noordanus Architects, the prominant feature of this building is the curved copper wall.   The project recived a Gold Award in the House of the Year 2007 - Commercial Projects category.

The unusual shape of the building combined with the range of different building materials posed a number of challenges for our tradesmen.  As well as being curved, the copper wall is also raking on both horizontal and vertical planes.  Exterior claddings included copper, ebonized cedar, stack bond concrete block and aluminium.

The location of the site on a busy central city intersection meant extra care was required to protect vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

Telstra Clear - 2000

Telstra Clear

The Telstra Clear building has fast become an architectural icon standing out as a bold example of contemporary design and construction. With its strong visual stance, clean lines and innovative cladding, this building captures the eye of all who pass by.

With pronounced geometric lines, this building leads the eye through to a soft flowing curve facing the street entry. Inside, the open atrium leads to the busy administration and operations arm of the company.
Cutting edge design and construction is apparent in all aspects of the building both internally and externally, reflecting the type of operation it houses. The successful construction process was a result of careful planning and a high level of communication amongst all involved parties.

Buried in the base of the building is the technological department. Integrated into this intensive atmosphere is the human side, accommodating the call centre that caters for their customers. Operating twenty four hours a day this building needs to deliver excellence both in its artistic merit and practical application, success has been achieved on both counts.
